Recognising the growing role and significance of Indonesia – the largest market in the Southeast Asia region – DealStreetAsia launched a regional variant of its annual, Asia PE-VC Summit in Jakarta. The summit was first held in 2019. In its third year, it will be held on March 8 – 9, 2022.

What’s on the agenda?

The Indonesia PE-VC summit addresses the unique opportunities and challenges facing the country’s PE, VC and startup ecosystem as it navigates a rapidly modernising economy – one where legacy business models are being questioned and upended on a daily basis.

It includes panel discussions and in depth conversations with some of Indonesia’s largest investors, most disruptive startups and unicorns, giving a view from the frontlines of economic transformation.

Jenny Lee

Jenny Lee is a Managing Partner at GGV Capital and is best known for investing at the front of innovation in areas such EdTech, Fintech, Robotics/AI, EV, and Web3. She started her career as a jet engineer with Singapore Aerospace and became the first VC to invest in flying cars with eHang (NASDAQ; EH). Similarly, her lifelong passion for gaming led to investments in the metaverse and companies such as YY, and desire to help tackle food insecurity around the world have led to many investments in foodtech and sustainability around the world.

She has had 8 IPOs in the last 5 years, including two in 2021, across the NYSE, Nasdaq, ChiNext, HKSE and SSE STAR Market exchanges, and numerous portfolio companies exits via M&A. Jenny launched GGV’s first office in China in 2005 and re-opened GGV’s Singapore office in 2019. She also leads the firm’s USD fund raising activities.

Jenny is currently a board director with Agora (NASDAQ: API), SATS Ltd, Government Technology Agency of Singapore, and Temasek. She has been a member of the Forbes Global 100 VC Midas list since 2012 and was the first woman to break the top 10 in 2015. Most recently, she was named World’s Top 5 Female Venture Capitalists by Forbes’ 2021. Jenny is a graduate of Cornell University and Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.

Mr. Stefanus Ade Hadiwidjaja is one of Indonesia’s leading investment executives with regional investing experience. Prior to INA, Mr. Hadiwidjaja was with Creador, a leading Southeast Asian private equity firm, where he was the Managing Director and Country Head of Indonesia and Singapore and member of the firm’s Investment Committee. He led and executed a wide range of investments in the healthcare, consumer, and financial service industries. He has a proven track record in turning around and improving the value of firms’ investments including acting as CEO and board member of investee companies.

Mr. Hadiwidjaja spent a few years working at global consulting firm the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), serving clients in financial services and telecommunication industries, across both private and state-owned enterprises. Prior to that, Mr. Hadiwidjaja worked at boutique management consulting firms, Arghajata and Skha Consulting, and spent a year with IBM Indonesia as Territory Services Leader.

He holds an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania as a Fulbright-Sampoerna Scholar and bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Universitas Pelita Harapan.

Tessa Wijaya

Tessa Wijaya is the Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder of Xendit. She is responsible for the overall business operations of the company, including service and support, partnerships, government, and public relations, as well as compliance. Her ability to multitask played a significant role in Xendit’s business landscape that brings the company to where it is now, making her known as the leader that “can make things work”.

Prior to building Xendit, Tessa had a successful career at various private equity firms for 7 years, QUVAT, Fairways, and Mizuho,  before embarking on a new journey in the sphere of financial technology in 2015. Tessa earned her bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University in the United States of America and a master’s degree in the University of Sydney in Australia.

Tanah Sullivan

Tanah Sullivan is the Group Head of Sustainability at GoTo and leads its environmental, social and governance (ESG) efforts across Gojek, GoTo Financial and Tokopedia.

Before GoTo, Tanah was at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland, where she led partnerships for a range of sustainability-focused initiatives in ASEAN and globally. She led the Forum’s efforts on issues such as energy transition, circular economy, food security, gender equality, deforestation and financial inclusion, among others.

Previously, Tanah held various public sector roles with the Canadian and Australian governments, covering international security, development, natural resource security as well as foreign trade and investment.

Tanah holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Bond University and a Master of Political Economy from the University of Melbourne, Australia.

Louis Casey

Louis Casey (Singapore) joined KKR in 2016 and is a member of the Next Generation Technology team, focusing on growth equity investments in the Asia region. He has been involved in KKR’s investments in Laser Clinics Australia, MYOB and Arnotts as well as KKR’s exit and subsequent reinvestment in GenesisCare and has led a number of portfolio company add-on investments in technology, such as MYOB’s investment in FlareHR. Prior to KKR, Mr. Casey was at Investec and worked within their growth equity investments and corporate advisory teams. He has also spent time working within the renewable energy industry, starting his career in finance as an energy trader. Mr. Casey holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Tasmania and a Masters of Finance from Monash University (Melbourne).

Sandeep Naik is a Managing Director and Head of General Atlantic’s business in India & Southeast Asia. He is also a member of the firm’s Management and Portfolio Committees. Before joining General Atlantic in 2012, Sandeep served as a Partner and Co-Head of India for Apax, leading investments in the healthcare, financial and business services and retail and consumer sectors. Earlier in his career, he was Global Marketing Manager at Medtronic Inc., a scientist at Mayo Clinic, and a management consultant with McKinsey & Company. He is also the Co-Founder of InfraScan Inc., a medical device business focused on detecting bleeding inside the brain using a handheld device. Saurabh N. Agarwal joined Warburg Pincus in 2009 and is based in Singapore, where he relocated from New York in 2016 to focus on the firm’s investment activities in Asia. Pinn Lawjindakul is Partner at Lightspeed, and is part of the firm’s Southeast Asia team. She focuses on growing the Lightspeed platform in the region, and provides the necessary counsel and direction for the firm’s investments primarily in consumer and financial technology companies.

Prior to Lightspeed, she worked alongside founders across all business life stages in China and India, most notably companies such as Flipkart, Ola, Hike, Razorpay, and Uxin. As she continued to develop her career, she has spent time in the U.S. and around the world in various roles and capacities. The myriad of experiences has helped boost her understanding of trends in mature tech economies and enables her to contextualize those learnings to emerging markets in SEA.

Aldi Haryopratomo

Aldi Haryopratomo (born July 30, 1982) is an Indonesian technology entrepreneur with a prolific career helping develop Indonesia’s digital financial services sector. His career has been rooted in a desire to provide responsible and affordable financial services to all Indonesians, especially low and middle-income customers and business owners who normally cannot access formal financial services.

After a few years on the early team at the microfinance peer-to-lending started Kiva.org, Aldi founded the technology startup Mapan in 2009, which became Indonesia’s largest Arisan network offering physical products to customers using a blended assisted-eCommerce and financial services bundle (arisan barang - MURI). After growing Mapan to reach over 1.5 million customers in 120 cities, Mapan was acquired by Gojek in 2017. After the acquisition, Aldi became the CEO of Gopay -a subsidiary of Gojek - where he led Gopay to to be one of the largest payments and financial services providers in Southeast Asia. After leaving Gopay Aldi was appointed as a member of the Board of Commissioners for eFishery and Halodoc.

JJ Ang

JJ Ang is the Chief Financial Officer at GudangAda, an Indonesia B2B e-commerce company in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry. He has over 14 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, capital raising, and corporate management and has held roles in the US, South America, Hong Kong and Southeast Asia.
