Uno assumed office in 2020 at the peak of the coronavirus pandemic that grounded the travel and tourism industry. His priority has been to develop sustainable tourism by using technology as well as tapping into the country’s rich culture and travel experience offering.
One of Indonesia’s most prominent entrepreneurs, Uno is the co-founder of PT Saratoga Investama Sedaya Tbk, the biggest publicly-listed investment company in the country. He served as a president director in the company from 2004 to 2015.
Uno was elected as vice governor of Jakarta in 2017 but resigned from the office to run as a candidate for the vice president of Indonesia, alongside his running mate Prabowo Subianto, in the 2019 election.
Uno completed his bachelor's degree at Wichita State University in 1990 and his master's degree at George Washington University in 1992. In 2016, he received the title of Distinguished Research Professor in Residence from George Washington University.
He was part of Google Launchpad Accelerator in 2015 and Unreasonable Impact in 2018. He was listed as Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia 2017 and Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year (Innovation category) 2018, and MIT Technology Review Asia Innovators under 35 in 2019.
Utari graduated from Telkom University with an ICT Business Management degree. Subsequently, she took the Executive Leadership Education in Said Business School at Oxford University. Utari was also one of Forbes 30 under 30 Asia Class of 2020, together with Farid and Indraka as the founders of Aruna.
He started his career in information technology at PT Metrodata Indonesia, then at General Electric Company (GE) until he reached the position of Director of Business Development.
In 1996, he and a friend decided to start an independent business by establishing a brand management company in children's apparel and furniture business. Unfortunately, Asian financial crisis in 1998 made made his business closed in 2000.
He went back to the professional world and worked at Lucent Technologies Asia/Pacific Incorporated (2000 – 2003) and Motorola Network Asia (2003 – 2007). Then he joined a private equity company in telecommunication and infrastructure sector, as part of his great interest in learning new things. In 2011 he joined Saratoga Group and assisted the turn around process of PT Mitra Pinasthika Mustika (MPM), which among other is engaged in motorcycle lubricant business with brand Federal through its subsidiary PT Federal Karyatama (FKT). In 2013, he was appointed as President Director and CEO of FKT and successfully led FKT merger and acquisition process by ExxonMobil which was completed in June 2018.
Since December 2021, he was appointed to be Managing Director of PT Energi Kreasi Bersama (Electrum). Another challenge for him to enter the electric vehicle ecosystem business.
During the fireside chat, the minister will share his vision and perspectives on Leveraging the soft power of tourism & creative economy to generate alpha. This session will explore how investments in the soft infrastructure can boost the country’s GDP growth as well as generate multiples for investors and enterprises in the sector.
The minister will be in conversation with Eddi Danusaputro, who currently serves as the CEO of at BNI Ventures. He has over 20 years of experience in several sectors including financial services (Morgan Stanley, AXA, and Makara Capital), management consulting (Booz Allen Hamilton, and AT Kearney) and consumer goods (Procter & Gamble). Eddi also has experience in angel investing and social entrepreneurship.

The fintech landscape is fast emerging as an ecosystem play with the pandemic-induced accelerated digitalisation trends, opening up an array of opportunities that go way beyond the payments and allied spaces. Tech startups have been adopting the partnership or acquisition route, especially in the financial services and banking sphere, to expand their user base and access lower cost of funds. Tessa believes in changing the world at scale through technology. She is keen on building Indonesia and South East Asia’s digital infrastructure by providing the best payment solutions.
From the startup side, we also have Iwan Kurniawan, the co-founder and COO of Modalku, a digital lending and credit technology platform in SE Asia for micro, small and medium enterprises. Modalku is funded by leading investors Sequoia, Softbank Ventures Asia, LINE Ventures, Alpha JWC among others.
From the investors’ side, we have Dimitra Taslim, VP, GGV Capital, who invests in the areas of Web3, SMBTech, FoodTech, EdTech, and FinTech. We also have Sandeep Patil, Partner & Head of Asia, QED Investors. Patil has extensive experience in consumer internet and is a global veteran of the banking and financial services industry.
From the banking side, we have Dyota Marsudi currently serving as President Director at Bank Aladin, the first Islamic digital bank in Indonesia with the aim of opening and facilitating access to digital-based Islamic banking services.

Indonesian companies and investment firms have been adopting environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles both in venture investing and building sustainable businesses. Several firms have beefed up their ESG team and initiated the release of annual sustainability reports. The region is also seeing corporations and venture capital funds raising dedicated funds and deploying capital in startups building solutions to tackle environmental problems.
ESG investing provides a strong framework for analysing companies beyond traditional financial metrics. What has also accelerated adoption is regulatory pressure on companies as well as a push from LPs for ESG-complaint investing. This panel will explore how investors and founders are seeing ESG adoption as a means to achieve long-term value as well as impact.
We feature Tanah Sullivan who leads ESG efforts across Gojek, GoTo Financial and Tokopedia. Before GoTo, Tanah was at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland, where she led partnerships for a range of sustainability-focused initiatives in ASEAN and globally.
Joining this panel is Utari Octavianty, co-founder & chief sustainability officer of Aruna, an integrated fisheries commerce startup focusing on improving the coastal village by creating a fair and transparent marine-fisheries trade through technology innovation.

As a fish farmer-turned-agriculture tech entrepreneur, eFishery founder and CEO Gibran Huzaifah is revolutionising the relatively untapped $9.4-billion Indonesian aquaculture market. eFishery provides end-to-end solutions for fish and shrimp farmers in Indonesia from smart farming technology, input, and access to financing, to the B2B market. In January 2022, eFishery raised $90 million in its Series C round co-led by Singapore state investor Temasek, SoftBank Vision Fund 2 and Sequoia Capital India.
Our next entrepreneur Dayu Dara Permata co-founded the Indonesian property platform Pinhome, which recently raised $50 million in its Series B round from Goodwater Capital, Intudo Ventures, Ribbit Capital and others. Pinhome connects potential buyers and renters with property owners and agents, making the process of buying, selling, and renting property easier.
Hear from Evermos co-founder and CEO Ghufron Mustaqim on the growing social commerce space. Mustaqim co-founded Evermos, a Sharia-compliant e-commerce platform that connects brands, resellers, and consumers. In 2021, Evermos raised $30 million in its Series B funding. Home to more than 200 million Muslims, Indonesia is one of the world’s major markets for halal products.
Meet Social Bella Indonesia co-founder and President Christopher Madiam on his growth journey of building the startup into a leading integrated beauty technology company. Social Bella, known for its omnichannel commerce site Sociolla, recently raised over $60 million in a funding round led by Singapore state investor Temasek Holdings and L Catterton.
We also feature Qoala founder and CEO Harshet Lunani, who is seeking to revolutionise insurance through a combination of new product development supported by technology and digital-based claim processes and machine learning. Before building Qoala, Lunani founded and ran Kelola, a digital investment platform.

Meet Jefrey Joe of Alpha JWC Ventures, an Indonesia-focused early-stage firm that raised $433 million for its third fund in the largest final close by a SE Asian VC firm in 2021. Jefrey Joe is a venture capitalist with tech, product and consulting background. He sits on the board of some of Indonesia’s fastest-growing startups, including Kopi Kenangan, Kredivo, and Lemonilo.
AC Ventures managing partner Helen Wong was ranked among the top 100 VCs in China and the top 25 female VCs in China by Forbes. Prior to joining AC Ventures, she was a Partner at Qiming Venture Partners, focusing on its internet and consumer sectors. Her successful exits include Mobike, LuoJiSiWei and Lagou. She led the firm’s SE Asian investment strategy and has invested in Akulaku (unicorn), and RedDoorz. Prior to Qiming, she was a founding member at GGV Capital for approximately 10 years in China and Silicon Valley.
Eddy Chan is a founding partner of “Indonesia-only” independent venture capital firm Intudo Ventures. Intudo’s portfolio companies include Xendit, Pintu, Pinhome, Halodoc, Kargo, PasarPolis, Nalagenetics, Populix, and more. Intudo closed its third fund at $144 million.
Karan has 18 years of global experience with over 11 years in technology-focused venture investing. At B Capital, Karan Mohla leads early-stage investments in India & South-East Asia. B Capital Group this year closed its $250-million early-stage Ascent Fund II, which seeks to invest in pre-seed to Series A rounds globally.

Indonesia’s nascent domestic electric vehicle [EV] industry is showing promise given the government’s intent to push investments and development in the sector to achieve a reduction in carbon emission targets. What is seen as accelerating EV sector development is the growth potential in the two-wheeler segment and increased adoption by ride-hailing and delivery giants as they seek to electrify their fleets. Indonesia is also intent on taking advantage of its large reserves of nickel to become a global hub for electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing and exports.
This panel features Indonesian deputy minister Rachmat Kaimuddin who will shed light on the efforts made to attract investments and develop the EV ecosystem in Indonesia.

The vice-minister will be in conversation with Pandu Sjahrir, who is one of Southeast Asia’s leading investors in the seed and early growth stages. Indonesia-focused Indies Capital has invested over $700 million in the past 7 years. Indies Capital also has a strategic alliance with AC Ventures, an ASEAN-focused seed and early-stage fund. Indies Capital and AC Ventures have invested in over 100 companies that have generated over $40 billion in shareholder value and 200 new entrepreneurs in Southeast Asia.
Prof. Dr. Dante Saksono Harbuwono has been serving as Indonesia’s deputy health minister starting from 2020, when he took on the role at the peak of the coronavirus pandemic.
He was appointed as a member of the Indonesia Presidential Medical Team in 2014 – a position which he has been serving until now. He has also been appointed as an Alternate Board Member of Global Fund, which will run until 2026.
Prof Dante Saksono Harbuwono completed his medical specialty in endocrinology at Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia, in 2004. He earned Doctor of Philosophy at University of Yamanashi, Japan, in 2008. The diabetic molecular expert was appointed as the Chief of Metabolic Disorder, Cardiovascular and Aging Cluster at Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia from 2015 to 2020.
At the Indonesia PE-VC Summit, the vice minister will deliver a keynote speech on the topic – Transforming healthcare in Indonesia through technology and innovation. He will shed light on the power of technology and innovation in improving access to reliable, affordable and effective healthcare solutions for Indonesia’s 280-million-strong population.
As Lippo CEO, John Riady has focused on concentrating on the sweet spots in real estate and healthcare businesses. He is betting on macro drivers like urbanisation and demographics, as well as the digitalisation of healthcare to spur growth at the group’s businesses.
Prior to taking over as CEO, Riady led the group’s digital efforts and investments in SE Asia’s technology sector including in e-payment platform OVO.
