Kuan Hsu

Managing Director
Synexia Ventures

Kuan leads Synexia Ventures’ on-the-ground operations in Southeast Asia. Synexia Ventures is a Singapore-based investment vehicle jointly created by NTT DOCOMO Ventures and NTT Finance that formally launched in December 2025, representing the NTT Group’s first Southeast Asia-focused investment platform created outside Japan.

Synexia operates as a semi-independent, multi-function strategic engine focused on Southeast Asia but opportunistically, on global markets. The platform invests in AI, IoT, robotics, drones, and deep tech startups while bridging NTT Group’s R&D capabilities with Southeast Asia’s startup ecosystem. Synexia can invest directly into startups, facilitate proofs of concept with NTT’s 900+ group companies, and create M&A pathways through NTT subsidiaries across the region.

Kuan brings more than 20 years of experience across venture capital, private equity, investment banking, supply chain management, and management consulting. He currently serves as General Partner of KK Fund, a Singapore-based, early-stage venture capital firm. His career began at McKinsey & Company as a Business Analyst before moving to Solectron as Senior Manager focusing on US-China supply chain management. After completing his MBA, he joined Goldman Sachs as an Associate executing US M&A deals in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications sector, then moved to Temasek Holdings as Associate Director completing private equity deals throughout Asia. He subsequently joined GREE Ventures Asia (now STRIVE) as Principal and later became Head of Southeast Asia, where he built the fund’s regional presence.

Kuan served as a Board Member of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization and is a frequent lecturer at institutions such as the National University of Singapore and Singapore Management University. He was a member of the Early Stage VC Subcommittee of the Action Community of Entrepreneurship (“ACE”) and a judge on Singapore Channel News Asia’s reality TV series Start-Up.

Kuan holds a joint MBA and MA from the University of Pennsylvania, Master’s degrees in Industrial & Operations Engineering and Financial Engineering from the University of Michigan, and a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial & Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan. He is currently pursuing an EMBA at Tsinghua University’s PBC School of Finance.
