Joshua Morris is a Founding Partner and CEO of Emerging Markets Investment Advisers (“EMIA”). A Singapore-regulated Fund Management Company, EMIA manages AUM of US$140M through three growth capital, impact-focused private equity funds investing across the ASEAN region with a focus on Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar.In his role, Joshua has overall responsibility for the firm’s investment activities, operations, and finance. He is a member of the investment committees of all three funds as well as sitting on the board of EMIA’s parent company, Emerging Markets Group Investments.Joshua has held numerous board directorships for companies domiciled in Singapore and other ASEAN markets across multiple sectors including for-profit education, F&B/hospitality, financial services, insurance, software/IT and sustainable forestry, among others. Within these positions, Joshua has participated in Remuneration, Governance, Risk and Strategy sub-committees of the respective boards. Joshua was also part of the founding team and represents EMIA on the board and investment committee of Emerging Market Entrepreneurs, a Myanmar-focused VC fund.Prior to founding EMIA, Joshua was a Director and Co-Founder of Emerging Markets Consulting, a private sector development and business consulting firm serving clients across the ASEAN region with offices in Phnom Penh, Vientiane and Yangon.Prior to moving to Asia in 2002, Joshua held various senior corporate development and marketing roles at both Fortune 500 firms and VC-backed technology start-ups. An American national, he holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and an MBA, both from Harvard University.
