Patrick was born in Fuzhou in 1977 and moved to Hong Kong in 1983. He graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a major in Business Administration. After graduation, he joined the Swire Group as management trainee and quitted the job for start up after 9 months. In 1999, he founded UR Photo in Hong Kong, which is the first online photo servicing company in Greater China. UR Photo provides a platform for photo storage, sharing, editing, photo-finishing and other value-adding services. The company was acquired by a listed company, China Hong Kong Photo Group (sole agent of Fujifilm in Hong Kong & Mainland China) in early 2003.

OOH Media Network Group was founded by Patrick in Shanghai in 2002. With its systematic database and platform, OOH Network consolidates all outdoor media resources from Greater China, providing a one-stop professional outdoor advertising service. Patrick has led the company to become the largest outdoor media service provider with extensive coverage over 100 cities in China. In late 2007, the company merged with Focus Media Group, which was formerly listed on NASDAQ stock market as the first listed media company in China joining the NASDAQ-100 in 2005. Patrick’s investment group had also been one of key investors in Focus Media’s privatization in 2013 with a valuation of USD 3.8 billion. Focus Media is the largest private media company and re-listed in the China stock market in 2015 with its current market capitalization of over USD 20 billions.

Patrick is the alumni of China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) Global CEO Program (class 2010) and the alumni of Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB) China CEO Program (class 2009).

Patrick is currently the Chairman of HGI Capital Holdings. With headquarter in Hong Kong, HGI Capital has offices and teams in Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen. The company manages investments in Venture Capital, Growth Equity Investment and Innovative Business Incubation specializing in internet, technology and consumer- related sectors. He is also the Founding and Managing Partner of Zhong Wei Capital (ZWC Ventures), which has a strategy to invest in innovative companies with high growth potential in TMT (technology, media & internet) and consumer sectors. His investment track records include privatization of Focus Media Group (stock code: SZ002027), Juneyao Airline (stock code: SHA603885), VIPKid, Jingdong Finance, Yitu Technology, Mobike, Souche, Xiaopeng Motors, Tokopedia, Tantan, Mesosphere, Wattpad , etc.

Besides his business ventures, Patrick also serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Chinese University of Hong Kong, focusing on innovation and entrepreneurship. He also conducts academic researches as a visiting scholar at Stanford University (2017 – Current).
