Saemin Ahn is the managing partner at Rakuten Ventures, the venture capital arm of Japan’s Rakuten Group, one of the world’s leading internet service companies. He is responsible for leading and evaluating investments, conducting due diligence, and analysing deal structure.
Rakuten Ventures manages a $200 million Global Investment Fund and a $10 billion Japan Fund. Portfolio companies include Carousell, Visenze, PocketMath, SendAnywhere, Algorithmia, and Epic!
Prior to Rakuten Ventures, Sae was at Google for five years from 2008 to 2013 managing sales and business development for Asia. He has extensive experience in brand management and content distribution from his time in Hyundai Card and Animal Studio, an animation startup.
Saemin holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and broadcasting and journalism from Sogang University and currently lives in Singapore.
